Low Density Fixturing
Haven Metrology is partnering with fixture builders to manufacture and utilize low density fixtures for use in our industrial Nikon X-Ray & CT Scanner.
Fixtures are vital for manufacturing quality but can be problematic for all measurement devices by blocking important measurement features. They limit the line of sight of surface scanners and prevent tactile probing by CMMs. Further, traditional aluminum and steel fixtures and components create difficulties in scanning lower density materials.
By using similar or lower density materials than the part being restrained we are able to provide full dimensional analysis in this restrained condition.
Full Dimensional Analysis using Industrial CT
Once we have the scan file optimized using Volume Graphics, we convert it to a traditional scan file for analysis using PolyWorks Metrology Suite. PolyWorks allows us to perform alignments, coordinate systems, and dimensional analysis.
This technique will be extremely useful for measuring internal and inaccessible data that is unable to be measured using other methods. For example, on this part we can understand all of the geometry of the clip locations.
